Fareway intends to construct a new store in Harrisburg, South Dakota.
“We are extremely excited to welcome Fareway to our community. They have the perfect family-friendly and community-oriented culture that will integrate nicely with Harrisburg,” said Harrisburg Mayor Julie Burke-Van Luvanee.
Fareway intends to construct an approximately 18,000 square foot Fareway grocery store. When opened, the store will provide area residents with an unmatched, full service meat department; farm-fresh produce; low, competitive prices and the highest customer service that people have come to expect from Fareway.
“In the coming weeks, we hope to engage local officials about the construction of a new Fareway store in Harrisburg,” said Fareway President and Chief Operating Officer Frederick R. Greiner. “The details of the plan will be vetted through a public process in the upcoming months. Although this development will take time, we are working in coordination with Van Buskirk Companies and Devitt Farms. We are all excited to make this store a reality for area residents.”
“As the developer of Devitt Farms in Harrisburg, Van Buskirk Companies is pleased to play our part in bringing a much needed grocery store to Harrisburg. This will be a fantastic addition to the community and a short walk from the new homes at Devitt Farms. This year, The Residences at Devitt Farms, will be open and the perfect place for residents of Harrisburg to build a new home,” said Steve Van Buskirk, Van Buskirk Companies Director of Land Development.
“I would like to thank Van Buskirk Companies, the Devitt family and Fareway Stores for working together to bring a grocery store to the Harrisburg community,” said Harrisburg City Administrator Andrew Pietrus.
“The development of a Fareway Store in Harrisburg is a valuable opportunity,” said Lincoln County Commissioner David Gillespie. “Lincoln County is committed to working with our local communities, and we are excited to build on this practice in the City of Harrisburg.”
