Fareway

We are pleased to announce we will soon become a part of the Fort Madison community!

Fareway Stores, Inc. has property under contract to purchase the city block containing the former County Market building located at 1802 Avenue H in Fort Madison. Fareway is working with the current property owner and local officials to begin the public process and present area residents with additional details in the near future.

Fareway intends to construct an approximately 18,000 square foot Fareway grocery store. When opened, the new store will provide an unmatched, full-service meat department; farm-fresh produce; low, competitive prices and the highest level of customer service, with personalized to-your-car carryout.

“In the coming weeks, we will further engage local officials with the hope of beginning the public process to acquire and construct a new Fareway store in Fort Madison,” said Fareway President and Chief Operating Officer Frederick R. Greiner. “Fareway is proud to serve hard-working, Midwestern families with full-service and everyday economical prices. This new development will take time, and additional details still need to be vetted, but we are very excited about joining the Fort Madison community.”

Fort Madison Mayor and property owner Brad Randolph could not be more excited about the prospects of a long term community partner in Fareway. "It's nice to see that Fareway recognizes the potential in Fort Madison. A new grocery store and economic development in the central part of town along the main corridor will surely be a win-win for Fort Madison and Fareway."
