(JOHNSTON, IA) - Fareway Stores, Inc. has announced it will not renew its lease and cease operation at its Fareway Meat Market located at 220 W. Main Street, Luverne, MN, on January 17, 2026. The 2,300 square foot Fareway Meat Market opened in 2022 as an experiment.
This size of meat market is much smaller than the size of other Fareway Meat Markets. With limited square footage restricting product offerings, site constraints prohibiting expansion, and insufficient sales justifying acquisition of the property or new construction at an alternative location, the decision has been made to close.
Fareway has contacted employees impacted by this decision and offered new opportunities within the company at a location requested by each employee, and we want to thank them for their dedicated service. Given the size of Fareway, there are numerous and exciting long-term retail opportunities throughout the company for each employee.
