Fareway Stores, Inc. hosted a ground breaking ceremony today for a new store to be located at 1700 Tenth Avenue N in Humboldt, which will replace the existing location at 710 First Avenue N. The new location will provide for an approximately 19,000 square foot Fareway grocery store.
“We are committed to providing area residents with increased options, while continuing to offer an unmatched, full service meat department; farm-fresh produce; low, competitive prices; and the highest level of customer service that our current Humboldt customers have come to expect,” said Fareway CEO Reynolds W. Cramer.
“We are excited for the reinvestment that Fareway has committed to in our community,” said Humboldt County Development Association Director Alissa O’Connor. “They have been a great corporate partner and the new store location will provide for expanded shopping opportunities for the citizens of Humboldt County.”
Construction is expected to be completed on the new store in late 2017. The existing Fareway store opened in 1970. Pending negotiations, the current site location will be sold.
