Peppermint Mocha

It's like a hug in a mug. Cozy up with a hot cup of peppermint mocha during the cold winter months!

Mint Syrup

  • 3/4 cup water
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp. peppermint extract

Mocha

  • 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 1/2 cups milk of choice
  • 1-2 cups strongly brewed coffee
  • to taste whipped cream
  • 2 candy canes, crushed, optional
  • optional holiday sprinkles

Directions

For the Mint Syrup

Bring the water to a low boil. Add the sugar and stir until dissolved. Add peppermint extract and remove from heat

*Mint Syrup can be made in a large batch and stored in the refrigerator.

For the Mocha

Heat the milk and chocolate together until melted (in the microwave or on the stovetop), stirring occasionally.

Pour the milk mixture into a mug. Stir in the coffee and 2-3 tablespoons of mint syrup. Top with whipped cream and candy cane pieces.

For adult version: omit mint syrup and divide 2 ounces peppermint Schnapps and 1 ounce coffee liqueur between mugs.
