These soft, sweet rolls are swirled with sweet strawberry jam, fresh berries and topped off with a delicate strawberry cream cheese frosting. They're the perfect thing for spring, brunch or any celebration.
Directions
1. Pour the milk, 1 TBS sugar and yeast into the bowl of your standing mixer. Stir and let it sit for about 5 min or until foamy. Add the ½ cup sugar, butter, eggs, and vanilla. Use a dough hook to stir until combined.
2. Add flour and salt, continuing to mix until dough is smooth and elastic. If dough seems too sticky, add a bit more flour.
3. Grease a large bowl and set the dough inside, covering with a damp towel and placing in a warm place.
4. Let the dough rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
5. While the dough is rising, combine the jam and strawberries in a small bowl and set aside.
Assemble the Rolls
1. Sprinkle a large work surface with flour and turn out dough. Roll into a 24×12” rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.
2. Spread the strawberry filling over the dough, leaving about an inch around the perimeter clear. Carefully roll up the dough, pinching the edges to keep the filling from oozing out. Cut into large rolls using dental floss, and place into a buttered 12-14” skillet.
3. Cover and allow to rise another 30 minutes, or until doubled in size. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
4. Once the rolls have doubled, brush with cream and bake until golden brown, approx 20-25 minutes.
Make the Cream Cheese Frosting
1. While rolls are in the oven, mix together the frosting ingredients. Set aside at room temp until rolls are ready. Once fully baked, remove and allow to cool for about 20-30 minutes until topping with frosting and enjoying warm.
