The new year brings new products and trends to the grocery store. Wondering what you’ll see in 2024? Here are my predictions:
Protein Power
In terms of nutrition, protein has the power to keep you full, aid in weight loss, and facilitate muscle repair, which made packing it in a top priority in 2023. Looking into 2024, products will continue to showcase protein front and center, whether you’re looking for plant-based or animal-based protein. Looking for mac and cheese with some satisfying protein? Got it. Need a quick high-protein, on-the-go snack? Check.
Easy Electrolytes
Drinking plain water was so 2023. Now our water bottle isn’t complete with an extra dose of electrolytes to boost vitamins, minerals and hydration. Individual drink mixes are easy to pack and stash, and they offer a variety of refreshing flavors. Many companies are focusing on sodium’s electrolyte properties, so you may notice a salty flavor in the rehydration aisle.
Real Salt
Unrefined sea salt has nothing added and nothing removed during its production, which means it still contains its elements and trace minerals such as magnesium, iron, potassium, calcium, copper and zinc. Because of its mineral content, unrefined salt or products containing unrefined are claiming better hydration, less fatigue, and increased athletic performance.
Sober Curiosity
Have you ever considered consuming less alcohol or consciously going alcohol-free? You may be “sober curious” and you’re on trend for 2024. Cutting back could mean on your total weekly alcoholic beverages or abstaining for the foreseeable future, both of which are easier with prepared mocktails and homemade, alcohol-free versions of your favorite cocktails.
