2024 is a new year, which means new healthy habits and lifestyle changes! Keep reading to see all of the things that 2024 entails including, new recipes, budgeting, and more.

2024 is...

  1. Making new recipes.

Make 2024 your year with less eating out and more home cooked meals.  This is also the PERFECT opportunity to try new recipes. Some advantages of home cooked meals are:

  • Portion control.  When cooking at home, you have more control over the amount you add to your plate, making it easier for you to not overeat.  This also allows for easier meal prep.

  • You can make the food your own.  When cooking at home, you know exactly all of the ingredients that are going into your meal.  Not only is this healthier but allows you to make it your own by adding different flavors, spices, and more.

  • It saves money.  Cooking from home in the long run saves money.  Instead of going out to eat every day, you can have one trip to the grocery store a week allowing you to stock up on all of the ingredients you need for your new recipes.

  • It builds healthy habits.  Healthy habits start at home, whether it’s including more protein in your diet or drinking more water. Trying a new recipe each week is also a great habit to start in this new year. For more recipes, click here.

2. Eating more fruits and vegetables.

This is the year for adding more fruits and vegetables to your diet.

Fruits are packed with a plentiful amount of vitamins that aid in better eyesight, skin, and more. Plus, they are so tasty with so many choices and so many different ways that they can be added to recipes. For Fareway’s fruit recipes, click here.

3Sticking to your grocery budget.

Now is the time to start the budgeting habits that you can stick with all year long.  Budgeting while grocery shopping is a great habit to get into as it will not only save you money but save you time as well!

Here are some tips to follow when it comes to grocery budgeting:

  • Plan your meals. Planning what you are going to eat for the week allows you go into the store with set standards of what you plan on picking up and what you might pass on.  Meal planning helps you to avoid picking up those little treats that just might not be needed.

  • Buy in bulk. Over time, buying in bulk will actually save you money. So, we suggest buying in bulk when you are able, especially if it is a product that you use all of the time like coffee or cereals.

  • Buy generic. We all know that there are some fan favorite items that are just seem better as name brand, but there are some items that are the same, if not, better than the name brands. Looking to shop Fareway’s brand. Click here to shop Fareway’s brand online.

  • Eat before you shop. This might seem self-explanatory, but we all know that going grocery shopping while hungry can be dangerous.  You may find yourself reaching for items that sound good in the moment, but you wouldn’t purchase otherwise.  Eat before you shop to ensure that you aren’t picking up unnecessary items.

4. Trying new foods.

Trying new foods is always something fun to do whether it’s just trying a new spice or trying a whole new recipe.
