Vice President of Benefits

Chad Carter

Chad joined Fareway in July 2010, and currently holds the position of Vice President – Benefits. Chad is responsible for overseeing Fareway’s employee benefits, including but not limited to, design of benefit programs and benefit administration, integration with HRIS, payroll and benefit system, adherence to varying compliance, audit and regulatory reporting requirements, and communication with employees and their families. Chad also interacts directly to coordinate and manage benefit vendor relationships. 

Chad earned his B.B.A degree in Finance from the University of Iowa in 1995, and has spent his entire professional career in the benefits field. Chad earned his Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) designation in 2009 through The International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans and their partnership with the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. 

Chad serves as the chair of the retirement plan committee and vice-chair of the group benefit committee at Fareway. Chad has spoken at the national Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) convention regarding student loan benefits and helped orchestrate a national TV segment on CBS This Morning addressing student loan debt. Prior to joining Fareway, Chad was involved in the administration and operations of hundreds of plan sponsor retirement plans dealing with complex plan design, conversions, mergers and acquisitions, retirement savings strategy, compliance, and employee communications.
