A lifelong Iowan, Corey Melhus attended Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo before embarking on his IT career. He gained experience in banking, educational software, manufacturing, and healthcare IT before joining Fareway’s newly established Retail Support department in 2010. There, he was instrumental in selecting, deploying, and maintaining retail technology solutions across store locations. Leveraging his success with PCI compliance, Corey was appointed to lead Fareway's Information Security program in 2015. Under his leadership, the program has grown significantly, now encompassing a comprehensive suite of Information Security capabilities that ensure the safety of data for both employees and customers. Corey most enjoys mentoring newer team members and interns, fostering their growth and development.
Corey’s current credentials include the CISSP, NACD-DC, and he is an Iowa Technology Leadership Institute alumnus.
He is deeply committed to public libraries, having served as Board Chair for a library friends organization and as a Trustee of the Ericson Public Library in Boone.
Corey resides in Urbandale with his wife and daughter. Together, they enjoy camping, reading, and music.
