Elias Johnson is the vice president of corporate outreach and communications at Fareway. Elias joined the team in October 2024 and leads the outreach efforts between Fareway and charitable organizations throughout the 140 communities we serve. Elias also oversees corporate communications, organizing and managing media coverage at Fareway events. He utilizes his award-winning storytelling skills to capture each event with photo and video, distributing content across multiple platforms. Prior to joining Fareway Elias worked as a television journalist in Des Moines, Phoenix, AZ and Reno, NV. During his time in broadcast television, he earned numerous national and regional awards for his work, including four Upper Midwest Emmys and six Edward R. Murrow awards.
Johnson graduated from the Walker Cronkite School of Journalism & Mass Communication at Arizona State University where he was awarded the Hearst National Championship for reporting in 2007; he was also named the National News Reporter of the Year by the Broadcast Educators Association the same year. Johnson wrestled for the Sun Devils at 141 lbs. and was recognized as a Maroon and Gold scholar athlete. Johnson spent time at Iowa Central Community College after graduating high school, where he was inducted into the Triton Hall of Fame as a distinguished alumni member in 2017. He met his wife, Niki, in 2006 while working as a golf professional in Mesa, Arizona; they have three children and reside in Urbandale. The Johnson family enjoys spending time together, going on long road trips and make a point to watch a family movie every Sunday.
