President

Garrett Piklapp

Garrett has been with Fareway since 2008 and serves as President. Garrett oversees numerous departments, including real estate, legal, communications, governmental affairs, community outreach, human resources, information technology, and subsidiary operations, and has also served as the Secretary to the Board and Corporation. 

Prior to joining Fareway, Garrett was a law clerk at a state trial court and student law clerk for the U.S. Court of Appeals, 8th Circuit.  He is a former White House Intern under President George W. Bush.

Garrett holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of Missouri – Kansas City and an undergraduate degree from Simpson College.  He was a Dean’s List honoree and graduated cum laude, respectively.  

Garrett is active in many local, state, and federal civic organizations, including the Iowa Grocery Industry Association, Iowa Business Council, Food Industry Association, and National Grocers Association. Garrett is involved in and supportive of several local and state charitable organizations including, Variety and Muscular Dystrophy Association. Additionally, he gives his time assisting local communities and government entities on various topics, both where Fareway stores are located and in other areas. Garrett also sits on the Simpson College Board of Trustees.

Garrett and his wife, Tami, are the proud parents of two girls, Ellison and Blakely.
