Beth Gustafson is Fareway's April 2013 Shield of Honor recipient

In April 2013 Beth Gustafson will have been with the Fareway family for 48 years. In her early days, situated at an old card table outside of Mr. Vitt's office, Beth was one of two people who made up the accounts payable and payroll department.

She has seen many changes in her years at Fareway including the introduction of the computer and the growth of the company from 28 stores to 104 today. Over the years Beth traded in her card table for a desk and in 2012 relocated to a beautiful office with her very own window at the Boone Corporate Headquarters where she currently serves as Fareway's Payroll Specialist.

Beth finds her work with all the people that make Fareway the most rewarding part of her job. She appreciates working for a secure company such as Fareway that promotes the welfare of each person and their family, entrusts them with great responsibility and supports the success of each employee.

It is important to Beth that the Fareway employees trust her to respond to their concerns or problems diligently and as quickly as possible. This attitude toward helping her Fareway family is a model to all on working together and getting along with everyone.

Outside of Fareway, Beth lives with her husband Gary with whom she has two grown sons and two granddaughters. She loves spending time with her grandchildren in Kansas City where they take in a lot of shopping, never missing the opportunity for a new pair of shoes! Beth and her family also enjoy traveling together.

"This is not merely a job, but something I enjoy and will miss very much when I decide to retire."

Beth, thank you for all the years of hard work and dedication.
