Fareway representatives presented a check for $5,000 to the Des Moines Community Playhouse for its Kate Goldman Children’s Theatre production, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

“We’re very proud to partner with the Des Moines Community Playhouse on their current children’s theatre production,” said Fareway Stores, Inc. CEO Reynolds W. Cramer. “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is a childhood favorite and we’re excited to sponsor the show in order to bring arts and culture to the next generation through this classic play.

Proceeds assist in the cost of production and allow for area residents of all ages to enjoy live community theatre. In this beloved play, journey with Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy through the old wardrobe and into the land of Narnia. Narnia is a magical land, populated by Tumnus the Faun, Mr. and Mrs. Beaver, unicorns, centaurs and other forest animals. But danger lurks as The White Witch wages war against Narnia's rightful king, Aslan the lion.

“We greatly appreciate the support and generosity of Fareway Stores, Inc. in making the first children’s theatre production of 2016 a reality,” said Playhouse executive director John Viars.

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe performances will be held Jan. 8-31, 2016, 7:00 p.m. Fridays and 1:00 p.m. & 4:00 p.m. Saturdays-Sundays. Ticket prices start at $15. To purchase tickets, visit The PlayHouse, call 515.277.6261 or visit the Playhouse Ticket Office, 831 42nd Street, Des Moines.
