NEWS RELEASE (February 8, 2022) – Fareway Stores, Inc. hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony today for its new location at 339 E. High Street in Rockwell City. The nearly 11,000 square foot store provides what customers have come to know and expect from Fareway – only the best in fresh, highest quality meat; a second-to-none, full-service butcher counter; farm-fresh produce; low, competitive prices; and the highest level of customer service, including to-your-car carryout. Additionally, the location will also offer FastLanes, a self-service checkout option, and online shopping and curbside pick-up, available at Shop.Fareway.com.
“We want to thank the community for their outstanding support in making this project possible,” said Fareway CEO Reynolds W. Cramer. “We are eager for Fareway to join Rockwell City in order to serve the community locally and to become an integral part of the community.”
“We are excited to welcome Fareway to Rockwell City. Area residents have been eagerly awaiting the store’s opening,” said Mayor Phil Heinlen. “We want to thank Fareway for their investment and commitment to making the Rockwell City community vibrant.”
“We are proud to have a Fareway in Rockwell City,” said Rockwell City Chamber President Jason Shaver. “The store is a great asset and will pave the way for exciting new growth in Rockwell City and Calhoun county.”
The new store will be managed by Grocery Manager Dave Kistenmacher and Market Manager Blake Aspengren. The store is open to the public beginning Wednesday, February 9 during normal store hours of 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
“The Fareway grocery chain is a friend to rural Iowa. Through this program of opening smaller-sized grocery stores in rural communities, Fareway is helping rural towns have easier access to groceries,” said Senator Tim Kraayenbrink. “It provides a lifeline for the community, bringing independence and convenience back to our small towns. We’re thankful Fareway is filling a tremendous need.”
