NEWS RELEASE (August 16, 2021) – Fareway today held a ribbon cutting ceremony for a new replacement store located at 102 West Anson Street in Marshalltown. Demolition of the former store site will take place shortly after the new store opens. The nearly 25,000 square foot Fareway provides what customers have come to know and expect – only the best in fresh, highest quality meat; a second-to-none, full-service butcher counter; farm-fresh produce; low, competitive prices; and the highest level of customer service, including to-you-car carryout. Additionally, the location also offers FastLanes, a self-service checkout option, and online shopping and curbside pick-up, available at Shop.Fareway.com.

“We look forward to continuing to serve the area residents of Marshalltown, like we have since 1946,” said B.J. Van Der Linden, Fareway Regional Vice President. “The new store is fresh and unique, with more natural lighting, a modern interior, and enhanced technology options. We are excited to provide for a quality shopping experience, with the same great customer service.”

“Fareway's investment in our community, while we are rebuilding from the tornado and derecho, could not happen at a better time,” said Mayor Joel Greer. “The city council, customers and this mayor appreciate having a completely new, modern store to shop in.”

“We couldn’t be happier to join the incredible team from Fareway in celebrating this investment here in Marshalltown,” said Marshalltown Area Chamber of Commerce President and CEO John Hall. “This investment shows a continuation of commitment from Fareway to serve our community, and we are so thankful for that investment.”

The new store will continue to be managed by Grocery Manager Brian Schmith and Market Manager Michael Hanna. The store will be open for normal business hours of 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. beginning today.
