(DES MOINES, IA) – Fareway Stores, Inc. partnered with Variety - the Children’s Charity to conduct the eighth annual Round Up at the register in July at all 141 store locations, raising a total of $148,214.88 for Variety – the Children’s Charity. On Saturday, July 26TH, Fareway presented a check during the Fareway Family Night at the Blank Park Zoo. 

Customers had the opportunity to round up to the next dollar or provide an additional donation on their grocery bill to help fund Variety’s mission. Dollars raised through the round up will stay in the state in which they were raised and will helps create opportunities for children to fully share in the experiences of life. 

“We are incredibly proud of the generosity shown by our customers, whose contributions helped raise over $148,000 for Variety the Children’s Charity,” Fareway Stores, Inc. Executive Vice President, Bret Wiltse said. “This campaign reflects Fareway’s ongoing commitment to supporting children and families in our communities. We’re honored to partner with Variety to help make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it most.” 

The top five fundraising stores will have the opportunity to host a specialized bike giveaway to a child in their community: 

  1. 077- Norwalk $3,403.72 

  1. 073- Council Bluffs $3,287.12 

  1. 061- Ankeny (North) $2,928.06 

  1. 589- Decorah $2,676.93 

  1. 705- Clear Lake $2,385.20
