(JOHNSTON, IA) – Fareway Stores, Inc. proudly announced a record-breaking year of support for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), raising a total of $411,684.00 in 2026 through customer donations and the company's annual fundraising efforts.
The fundraising total includes $193,797 raised during the annual MDA Shamrocks Round Up Campaign at Fareway Meat & Grocery locations across the Midwest. The campaign invited customers to round up their purchases in support of MDA, demonstrating the continued generosity and compassion of Fareway shoppers and communities. The total was further boosted by the success of the 16th Annual Fareway MDA Golf Classic Presented by 7UP, which was held on August 28 at Beaver Creek Golf Course. The sold-out event brought together golfers, sponsors, vendors, and community partners from across the region, helping raise the overall fundraising total to a record $411,684.00 – an increase of more than $17,000 in 2025.
Proceeds from the fundraising efforts help support critical MDA research, care, advocacy, and educational programs and resources, including the annual MDA Summer Camp experience at Camp Courageous in Monticello, Iowa, which provides children living with neuromuscular diseases the opportunity to enjoy a life-changing camp experience at no cost to their families.
"This record-breaking achievement reflects the incredible generosity of our customers, suppliers, sponsors, vendors, and employees who continue to support MDA year after year," said Reynolds W. Cramer, Chief Executive Officer of Fareway Stores, Inc. "Together, we are making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families served by the Muscular Dystrophy Association. We are proud to partner with an organization that provides hope, support, and groundbreaking research, and we are grateful to everyone who helped make this our most successful year yet."
The 2026 Fareway MDA Golf Classic featured dozens of sponsors and vendor partners who work alongside Fareway throughout the year. Their support, combined with strong participation from the golf community, helped make the event one of the most successful in its 16-year history. On the course, the foursome representing Boston Beer Company captured first place in the four-person best-ball tournament with an impressive score of 22-under par.
"Support from partners like Fareway Stores truly helps move our mission forward and empowers families living with neuromuscular conditions to live longer more independent lives," said Jacki Klutcharch, Account Director of Signature Events for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. "Thanks to investments made by supporters like Fareway and its customers, we've seen incredible progress in recent years, including more than 30 FDA approvals of new treatments for neuromuscular diseases. These medical advancements don't happen without sustained fundraising and community support, and we are deeply grateful to Fareway, its employees, customers, sponsors, and vendor partners."
Since launching its partnership with MDA in 1992, Fareway Stores has helped raise significant funds to support MDA’s mission. The company's continued commitment reflects its dedication to strengthening the communities it serves and supporting organizations that improve lives across the region.
