(JOHNSTON, IA) — Fareway Stores, Inc. is pleased to announce the groundbreaking of its newest Fareway Meat & Grocery store in Brandon, South Dakota, marking an exciting milestone in the company's continued growth and investment across the region.

The Brandon location will become Fareway's fifth store in South Dakota, joining existing locations in Harrisburg, Tea, and two Sioux Falls stores. The new store will bring Fareway's signature full-service meat department, farm-fresh produce, quality grocery selections, and exceptional customer service to one of the fastest-growing communities in the state.

Dean Snyder Construction will serve as the general contractor for the project. Construction on the 21,000 sq ft store is now underway, with the store expected to be completed and open to customers in the fall of 2027.

"We are excited to officially break ground in Brandon and continue expanding our presence in South Dakota," said Reynolds W. Cramer, CEO of Fareway Stores, Inc. "The Brandon community has experienced tremendous growth, and we are honored to invest in a community that values quality, service, and strong local relationships. This new store represents our commitment to providing customers with an outstanding shopping experience while creating jobs and supporting the long-term vitality of the community."

"Today marks a significant milestone for Brandon," said Mayor Harry Buck. "Our residents have been looking forward to welcoming Fareway to our community, and this groundbreaking represents much more than a new grocery store. It is an investment in Brandon's future and further evidence of the growth and momentum our city continues to experience. Fareway's reputation for quality products, exceptional service, and community involvement makes them a perfect fit for Brandon, and we are thrilled to welcome them."

The new Brandon store will feature Fareway's award-winning full-service meat counter, fresh produce offerings, grocery essentials, and convenient online shopping options. Community-focused service and family values will remain at the forefront of the shopping experience.

The Brandon location is expected to create new employment opportunities while providing residents with greater access to fresh foods and quality grocery products close to home.

Additional details regarding construction progress, hiring opportunities, and grand opening events will be announced as the project advances.
