JOHNSTON, IA – Fareway stores across Iowa once again demonstrated the power of community support, raising more than $116,000 for Iowa WAVE and the patients and families served by the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital.
During the annual Iowa WAVE Round Up at the Register campaign, held Aug. 24 through Sept. 5, Fareway customers generously donated through register round-up contributions and chocolate bar sales, helping raise $101,987.65. The total surpassed last year's fundraising mark of $98,268, reflecting the outstanding efforts of Fareway employees who actively promoted the campaign and encouraged customer participation.
Employee support extended beyond the checkout lane. Through purchases of Iowa WAVE T-shirts, Fareway team members generated an additional $14,400 for the cause. Along with the Corporate Office's contribution of $12 per shirt sold, Fareway will proudly present a check for $116,388 to Iowa WAVE.
"These results highlight the incredible generosity of our customers and the dedication of our employees," said Fareway officials. "Together, we are helping provide critical care, resources and hope for children and families across Iowa."

Fareway recognized three cashiers whose outstanding efforts helped drive donations during the campaign.

- Diane Husted, Store 559, Iowa Falls – $391.06

Fareway also honored the stores with the highest percentage of customers choosing to round up their purchases during the campaign. These locations excelled at engaging shoppers and encouraging support for Iowa WAVE.

The funds raised will help Iowa WAVE continue supporting patients and families served by the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital, providing vital resources and assistance when they are needed most.
