Congratulations to Gary Elliott, recipient of our February 2013 Shield of Honor!
Gary Elliott began working at Fareway in 1964 as a full-time meat clerk at Ames #386-2. Gary joined the management trainee program and held the position of Assistant Market Manager at both the Ames location and Marshalltown #467-2. A Produce Order Picker position became available at the Boone Warehouse; Gary sought out the opportunity and transferred to the Boone Warehouse in 1979 where he has been ever since. In addition to being a Produce Order Picker, Gary currently works as a Health & Beauty Order Picker.
Fun fact: Gary is celebrating his 49th anniversary with Fareway this month. Happy anniversary Gary!
When not working, Gary enjoys spending time with his wife, Karen, 3 children, and 9 grandchildren. In addition, Gary enjoys working on cars and racing cars. In the past, he has assisted his son and daughter race cars at the Boone Speedway. Gary also enjoys being a spectator at racing events; he has made numerous trips to attend NASCAR races. Gary's favorite track is the Talladega Speedway and favorite driver is Dale Earnhardt Jr.
